Electrical Engineer
The Electrical Engineers of the Brunel Solar Team are responsible for the entire electrical system of Nuna 13. They focus on making all components in the car as efficient as possible. From the solar panel through the battery to the motor: no energy should be wasted!
The electrical engineers spend the year designing and building the entire electrical system of the solar car. They work with the three main systems in a solar car: the electric motor, the battery pack, and the component that makes Nuna so special as a vehicle—the solar panel! Each electrical engineer in the team is responsible for at least one of these three main components and also works on other projects, such as PCB design and connecting and configuring the electronics in Nuna.
When designing the car, they encounter the latest technologies in photovoltaic cells and energy storage. This provides an opportunity to collaborate with true pioneers and progressive companies, and as early adopters, showcase what is possible in the world of green energy using groundbreaking equipment and components before they become available on the global market. Additionally, the electrical engineers learn how to make complex systems as efficient and reliable as possible.
