It is the responsibility of the Technical Manager of the Brunel Solar Team to ensure that the car is completed on time for the race. This involves a healthy dose of planning and meeting deadlines.
The management of the Brunel Solar Team is responsible for ensuring that the team performs at its best so that the best solar car can be built. The management team consists of three members, each with their own set of responsibilities.
The Technical Manager, together with the Chief Engineer, is responsible for the technical aspect of the team. Their main task is to ensure that the solar car is completed on time and within budget, precisely in time for departure to Australia.
Together with the Chief Engineer, the Technical Manager ensures smooth integration of the technical projects. They communicate frequently with the different disciplines to maintain a clear overview of the challenges and priorities. Managing the budgets, with all the various income and expenses, is also part of that overview.
As a Technical Manager, it is crucial to maintain a good overview and be able to bridge gaps between different disciplines.
