Vattenfall Solar Team will not go to Australia, Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2021 canceled
Team captain Christiaan Wiers reacts disappointed to the news: “It really is a huge blow. We knew from the very beginning that there was a chance that the race would be canceled, but you're still working under the assumption that it continues. We've been working really hard on designing a new race car lately and are expected to start building it next week. We are going to let the news sink in first. Then we have to get back together and think about the future. ”
Renée McFadyen, Brand experience manager of Vattenfall: “This is the last year as the main sponsor of the Vattenfall Solar Team, and of course we would have liked to have our relationship closed in Australia. We took into account that the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge could not take place due to the corona pandemic, but now that the decision has been made, the disappointment is great. But the same goes for the motivation and perseverance of these students. We, therefore, expect that we will be able to create a good year together and that we will also inspire the world for a fossil-free future in 2021. ”
